  I'm reminded
as I write this
of a time
so very long ago
when the smell
of gunsmoke
filled the air.

Little
did we know
that we were
eating oranges
and now chemo
goes
where blood
used to flow.

Insidious enemies
gather within
chewing on the stuffing
inside my skin.

Yet.  I would trade
nothing
for the price
that I will pay
for the memories
of those long ago
rarely forgotten
days.

Memories of friends
memories of smiles
memories of hard times
memories of many miles

Welcome
