When your love goes away.
When your mind begins to sway.
When your soul feels lost each day.
When your feelings are at bay.

You need time,
time to heal a broken
and shattered life
of strife.

Time to recover
from this prolonged
period of fight
in your life.

Time for your heart to learn,
for it to begin to yearn.
Time for it to return,
to me.

I will be here.

After all the anger,
after all the danger,
after all the fears,
after all the tears.

I will be here.

When your mind has healed.
When your emotions
are in control,
and your whole.

I will be here.

When you look about,
and find without a doubt.
A friend is still about,
and is yours.

I will be here.

But, if you find another,
to share instead of other,
it will be time for me
to go.

...and I will.

Author notes

When does a person find themselves locked in a relationship which is going nowhere?  If you do ... when will you leave?  Will you stay or will you fade away?  The winning prize is love, the losing is lonely. The relationship may blossom or depart on the IM's of another heart and you may be Lost or Found...online.

Hmmm... some of my meaning was captured in these comments, however, the rest was lost in my comment. Have to watch that. I was trying to show the MIX of emotional tides which must capture the mind when loving online. That woven tapestry of twisted vines. The emotional tides of push and pull. But, in the end ... while waiting for your love to say go.. .. You must realize that as just a online ghost, a whisper of no sound, you may be replaced by another online clown! (laugh). If you are and that may happen, you must bow out and search again.

I think these are questions every individual has to ask themselves. It's scary to think you might be throwing something really good away, but as you said... how long can you hold on? It's a tough question, especially where matters of the heart are concerned. I have a friend who is forever telling me to remember that the glass is always half full and I can tell you, that's not always easy to do... of course every once in a while I get to throw those words right back at her when she's having a bad day as well.  I do know that nobody has the right to ask you to wait. I think that has to be a matter of personal choice. You do so because you want to, not because someone asks you. You'll figure it out Chuck. You have to do what is best for you and look out for your own good. You did a great job of penning your thoughts here.

    Very good poem!

Many would be able to relate to the words of this poem Chuck. At the time a heart is shattered, it seems that it will never mend again, there is a period of readjustment that may seem as if nothing will ever be the same again. most of all the one thing that is of most help whilst the heart is healing is the altruisim of a good and trusted friend. The time when things would be so very difficult is when the friend is the one who loves you.... then as you say... when do you give up and move on? The flow of your poem is really good Chuck, you have carried your theme well the whole length of your poem, well done my friend. ~Katie~
