I wish I could talk to her tonight.
I wish I could tell her how much I love her.
I wish I could ask her forgiveness,
For all the mean things I've ever said to her.

If I could I would change places with him.
If I could I would bring him home right now.
If I could I would be there with him.
If I could I would no matter how.

When I think of her I think of our life.
I think of her eyes so bright.
I think of her and the wondrous nights.
I think of her and wish she would write!!

I pressed every clothing item he left.
I cleaned the entire house,
Even his garage, many times.
There is nothing left.

I thought I saw her face today.
It was a soldier who was turning away.
She looks like her in so many ways.
I wish I could see her face tonight.

My folks called. They wanted to know,
"Is he alright?"
Sometimes the mere thought of him there,
Just gets me uptight.

I wrote a letter to her today.
I sent it but now think I should not have.
Too many descriptive things in it.
Too many.. I should have kept to myself.

I got a letter today.
I am so in love.
He writes almost every day.
Let's see what he has to say....

I got a letter today.
God, that picture she sent.
I love that gal so much.
She is heaven sent.
I got a visit today.
They said he died bravely....

young love is always a welcomed and very satisfying event in someone's life. It is a sign of a new beginning, a fresh start or simply a refreshing change that's been long awaited...may this feeling last forvever...and ever...and ever!

    Been there, done that...
I started to read and the tears flooded my eyes. So many memories of those times when he was away. Most of the time I don't mind being "married" to the air force, but there are times when I just despise it. I know you understand. Being less than a year from retirement, I am both anxious and afraid.

    very sweet

I usually don't like sappy love poems, but this is touching and tender. A beautiful tribute Catressa. I hope you do well in the contest, but I know the greater goal is to offer comfort and support to your friend, which you've surely succeeded in.

If this isn't a cup of comfort for Catressa I don't know what is. This is going to be a hard one to beat. Whoever wants to do better will really have to apply themselves.

this poem is very unique. i had to read it twice (not the sharpest tool in the shed)...but once i got it, or at least i felt like i got it, it made so much sense and was written beautifully. this poem shows so much imagination...and a real power of love, even in it's simplicity. great write! keep up the good work!

How incredibily original, to write a poem from both points of view. And how touching to boot. This one is probably my favorite in the contest by far, simply because of it's creativity. It was extremely touching.
